I find a stark beauty in the monuments of our pas, the physical co-ordinates of our lives and of our indigenous culture. Taking what is seen as urban blight out of its context to create images of broken architecture examining cultural historic and political change.
I find more broken monumentality in the mountains - formations scoured by wind and rain, grinding weather systems that dissolve the landscape into spectacular form.
Although born in Irvine I received a thoroughly East Coast art education. I studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Grays School of Art and through the RSW I had the opportunity of a Hospitalfield Residency in Arbroath. Returning to the Wast Coast I was a WASPS tenant in Irvine. Having been involved with many exhibiting societies since art school I became President of Paisley Art Institute in 2011.
